Functional Analyst

Looking to align your IT landscape with your business needs?

You're on the right track! As a first step, a business analyst will assess your needs and convey them to a functional analyst. With a deep technical understanding of your IT system’s behaviour, the functional analyst will capture all system requirements and make them intelligible for everyone involved, from developers to business stakeholders.

The result? The technical and development teams have clear guidance on what to do and what the final expectations are.

What does a functional analyst do?

⦁ Analysing and documenting (changes to) systems.
⦁ Managing his/her stakeholders: business analysts, developers, testers, project manager.
⦁ Translating the business requirements into functional specifications.
⦁ Working system-oriented, typically at user story and task level.
⦁ Having an helicopter view on the solution design, considering the boundaries of the selected system.

In case of an implementation of a software application, the functional analyst considers the more technical, or rather functional requirements, which are defined by a business analyst in close collaboration with the client.

How does a functional analysis work?

Business Analysis

In the first phase, our business analyst digs deep to assess your needs and translates them into business goals. He or she captures those goals using the right project management tool.

System Requirements Analysis

Our functional analyst translates business goals into a detailed system requirements analysis. They will use the most appropriate requirement-capturing method based on the project's management approach, whether it's agile, waterfall, or another methodology. Our functional analyst will also proactively engage stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities. This stakeholder management is essential to align project goals, reduce misunderstandings and ensure solutions meet real business requirements. Key stakeholders include project managers, end-users, developers and testers.

Development

Developers use the functional requirements as a script or guide to implement the necessary changes.

Testing

A dedicated testing team or our functional analyst ensures everything works as expected. After approval, we’re ready to go live!

Change Management

TAG supports end users through training and change management where necessary, from development phase to the implantation at the company.
