Graduating as an engineer and starting your career as a business and technology consultant may seem challenging … but not for TAG’s Young Grads! For them, it’s an exciting journey filled with opportunities to learn, grow and collaborate. We sat down with some of our juniors to hear about their experiences during their first months at TAG.
A strong start with TAG’s Bootcamp
The first month at TAG is all about hitting the ground running. Young Grad Pauline described a steep learning curve with intensive training sessions designed to provide the tools and knowledge to succeed as a business and technology consultant. "The Bootcamp was hands-on and allowed us to apply our skills to real-world challenges," she said. For Arne, it was an intense but rewarding experience: "It was a great way to learn about the company and to connect with colleagues." The Bootcamp fosters a strong group dynamic. With team-based challenges and plenty of opportunities to collaborate, Young Grads quickly form lasting bonds throughout their journey at TAG.
With its immersive Bootcamp, impactful projects and a supportive network, TAG offers an ideal environment for Young Graduates to kickstart their consulting careers. As Alexander put it, "The Bootcamp taught me the value of building connections and leveraging expertise to tackle challenges — lessons I’ll carry with me throughout my career."
A deep dive into the first consultancy projects
From their very first projects, Young Grads at TAG are trusted with impactful work. Sophie, for example, is working at an electricity grid operator to streamline processes and tackle structural challenges, while Roeland is diving into the energy sector as a Junior Sourcing Analyst at a Belgian energy supplier. "I help match cash flows for finance and create performance overviews," he explained. Zeno is optimising workflows on the factory floor at a major retailer, where he’s helping to make processes more efficient and effective. In summary, TAG offers Young Grads opportunities tailored to their skills and interests across different industries.
Additionally, TAG developed BOOST projects to engage our (junior) consultants with innovative challenges in between client projects, fostering growth. One such BOOST project is the 'Freelance SelfService,' which is improving how we collaborate with external freelancers by introducing a centralized freelance portal. This innovative platform enhances communication and streamlines workflows, enabling freelancers to easily update and manage critical job-related information such as their availability and role preferences.
A culture of support to foster growth
Starting a new role comes with its challenges, but TAG ensures Young Grads feel supported every step of the way. Each junior consultant is paired with a coach to help navigate their integration, set goals and provide guidance. "The coaching and support I’ve gotten, exceeded my expectations," said Inti. "It’s clear that TAG is committed to making sure you feel welcome and empowered." That’s why TAG also invests in robust training programmes. Roeland noted how the foundational energy market training prepared him to excel in his project. "The mix of technical and practical training provided the perfect foundation for starting in an unfamiliar sector," he said.
One aspect of TAG that stands out to Young Grads is the company culture. "TAG’s culture is professional yet warm," said Ritse. "It’s built around honesty, direct feedback and collaboration." Eva and Anna-Laura highlighted the emphasis on constructive feedback as a way to grow personally and professionally. As Anna-Laura puts it, "TAG’s culture helps you become the best version of yourself while maintaining a 'work hard, play hard' mentality." The supportive environment extends beyond the office, with frequent teambuilding activities and social events. "There’s always something happening to bring the team closer together," said Pauline.
Why they chose TAG
What would Young Grads say to someone considering a career at TAG? Ruben summed it up: "If you’re ambitious and ready for a challenge, TAG is the place for you. It’s a young, dynamic environment with opportunities to work on fascinating projects across industries."
