Triboot: TAG challenges experienced consultants in a new, hands-on business game

TAG invests in continuous learning through the TAG Academy, a series of training sessions led by consultants and external experts to keep the team updated on industry developments. This October, TAG launches the first edition of Triboot, a bootcamp for second- and third-year consultants. Talent Director Jelle Denissen and TAG Academy Lead Stijn Koopmans explain how this unique, hands-on experience marks the final milestone in the Junior Talent Programme at TAG.

Triboot, a business challenge for advanced consultants

The new Triboot programme begins with an introductory session hosted by Flanders Business School, which provides the academic background of the programme. TAG consultants, grouped into teams of three, work together to develop a vision and strategy for their fictional startup. The challenge? Each team is tasked with selling surfboards — a market deliberately chosen to encourage the consultants to focus on product-oriented strategies, aligning with TAG’s client-centric approach.

Throughout the week-long Triboot, the platform simulates six seasons of business operations. Every evening, their results are calculated in an online environment, and the teams receive feedback and advice from the partners at Flanders Business School on how to refine their strategies. This blend of theory and practice mirrors the real-life challenges consultants face, giving participants the opportunity to sharpen critical skills such as strategic thinking, decision-making and teamwork.

The “Shark Tank” twist at Triboot

At the start of the Triboot, each team prepares a strategy and vision for their startup and pitches it to a panel of potential investors. In true “Shark Tank” fashion, each team competes to win investment offers from the judges. After selecting their investor, the teams dive back into the business game, using the virtual capital to execute their plans. During the Bootcamp Pitch Night, on October 10th, after six seasons of virtual business operations, two teams will be crowned the winners of Triboot: the one with the best financial performance and the one with the best jury pitch.

Celebrating the final milestone for junior consultants at TAG

Triboot represents the final milestone in the junior consultant training journey at TAG. Following the Bootcamp for Young Graduates and Reboot for consultants with one year of experience, the Triboot programme completes the training for those with two years under their belt. It’s a challenging yet fitting milestone of the consultant's basic training cycle.

Today, the first edition of Triboot has already generated buzz at the TAG offices. It’s creating a “first day of school” atmosphere of excited energy, as in this edition, medior consultants and team managers will also participate. The healthy competition, combined with the hands-on nature of the business game, brings colleagues closer together. TAG’s bootcamps are more than just training - they’re a powerful tool for integration and team collaboration, allowing consultants to work with peers they may not engage with on a daily basis.

This unique combination of collaboration, expert theory and results-driven practice makes TAG’s Triboot - supported by Flanders Business School - stand out in its commitment to the growth and development of its consultants.
